More gesture drawings!

"When god created the world, he created three basic shapes: Cylinder, Box, and Sphere." -Sheldon (not directly qtd XD)

Use it!!

I think I'm improving. But I haven't been drawing much lately! Must get back into it or I'll fall behind ^^ The more curvier model does some really nice poses~! Every model has a distinct shape. Since I've seen them so often, I recognize them in my drawing.

Wow. Utterly amazing. I'm taking life drawing this semester and I thought I was pretty hot shit artistically until this class. Man, these ROCK. I have not grasped gesture drawing. I pretty much taught myself to draw on top of natural talent, but I didn't get the education on techniques in grade and high school. For example, how to draw the figure "from the inside out"- you map out the figures beautifully! I am truley moved and inspired. thank you for your talent :-)

That model is amazing...we have one that's fairly alright, but the teacher is to stiff and has no concept of variety...and the other models just plain suck. :(

Hmm...if you mean the lay-ins..I haven't really left a quick one alone without developing it ^^;;

lol. I can understand the urge. I was just curious though. I have the hardest time starting off my gestures for some reason. I would like to finish up an entire pose within a few seconds and just develop it for the rest of the drawing, but I can't seem to pull it off.

Oh I see what you mean ^^;; Hmm.. well...I probably can make one quickly and upload it in the scrap sometime....
I really pulled back from developing my art from the start (like getting to the eye detail already) until I get the whole lay of the drawing out. really helps to change poses if its not good enough.

I'll be sure to try that out next time. I have to much of a sketchy gesture and there some I never really get to finishing the pose.

I know what you mean. Curvier models have such interesting shapes, and I'm glad most of the male models don't have a problem with feminine poses either. Some of the ones we had were really be really manly in their poses, and it ended up being stiff, boring, and if I counted, they only had five poses. *sigh* Some of my best gestural drawings were taken away from me by my teacher...who doesn't want to give them back. TT.TT

I still come back to my life drawing classes at least for the workshops just so I can continually keep up with my observational eye. I miss that class *sniff*

Guys are stiff!! haha. They don't have that nice cuve female model have neh. I guess that might be one reason why guys like to draw girls? XD;;

Well just keep drawing more! The best ones don't come until numerous of practice XD;;

Have you posted any of your gesture drawing online? D: *wants to see* I'm going to take life/figure drawing class all throughout my college years so I don't lose touch of it XD;;
